Once there, visitors can visit ghost towns or backpack on more than 700 miles of trails. The 148-mile long Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area is also a close distance. The Arkansas River runs along the eastern edge of Buena Vista and offers over 100-miles of whitewater rafting fun.
